What utter bulls.t. This so called 'hack' involves tuning the damn decoder to another frequency, you do this through the installer menu for which the code is well documented in the decoder manuals. The broadcast is un-encoded, so where the hell is this is illegal, I'd sure like these ICASA idiots (senior manager my bloody left foot!) to show us what statute in law make it illegal to receive content that plainly unencoded, and if they start this crap about international broadcasts, ask them about short wave radio. (edit) now that I look at it, it is probably sentech that's broadcasting it, as it seems it's already available on the decoder! Now if you really want you can even tune to botswana TV (boring though!), also Free-To-Air BTW. See me-thinks an article published, edited and posted by multichoice, damned fraidy cats that 'welcome' competition!

This is LAUGHABLE!! So, shops like Mr. Price, Joshua Doore, Diskom, Pep, Jet etc that have their 'own' radio/tv channels via DStv decoders, have been 'hacking' their decoders for years then. Your decoder is not preset at the factory to pick up these transport streams because it adds no value to the home consumer - apart from maybe checking what is on special at Joshua Doore.?! Oh ja, and checking those Christian channels where they mainly as for 'donations' all the time. Personally I'm surprised that it is called 'hacking' your decoder??
DStv decoder extra-view/XtraView configuration-The requirements. Two DStv Zappa decoder. You will use one as the primary. DStv Smart LNB(bought separately from DStv office) this cost between 10,000 to 13,000 Nigeria currency.
You receive those channels anyway from the PAS7 satellite, so what’s the crime in tuning in to them? In fact, it’s nice to receive some domestic radio station with crystal clear reception.
If MultiChoice doesn't want home consumers to watch it, just scramble it! It does not cost anything for the free-to-air channels. I switched off and cancelled my subs with Choiceless after they canned the Sci-Fi channel. Watch BTV all the time because they only run from about 2pm to 10pm.
After that it's BBC World all the way which is how I get all the news - NO COMMERCIALS!! They do have the odd good movie on weekends. Gave us all the World cup live as well. Prime time has a lot of soapies and other boring stuff however.
SABC channels are encrypted on the Sentech frequency tho. Maybe that's the R300 they are talking about. Etv was removed from the Pas7/10 some time ago and is also only available encrypted via the Sentech boquet now.
(or the frequency is not public knowledge). I think there was a trick to punching in a 4 or 5 digit frequency or symbol rate or something because the choiceless decoders did not accept such a low number, but I got it working somehow, just don't remeber right now.
